Fencing around the home may seem like an ideal choice for the average homeowner. You can keep your dog and children in the yard safely and make a burglar think twice about hitting your home. It can also keep your gardens separate from the recreational area or to keep your dog from peeing on the azaleas.

For the homesteader, it’s a slightly different story. The homesteader has a focus on creating a completely self-sufficient homestead rather than a home that one comes to at the end of a hard day of work.  Here are some reasons why a homesteader would want certain types of fencing and it may be something you wish to consider as well:
